Take a look at pictures from the
2003 Sponsored Walk
The walk was from Wickes Car Park in
Newport to the Open Hearth Pub in Griffithstown, Pontypool along the
canal bank.
We started @ 14.30 on Sunday 22nd June.
As we gathered in the car park there
were a few rumbles of thunder. As soon as we set paw onto the canal
bank it started to pour down with thunder and lightening. The
sensible few amongst us had brought a brolly or a raincoat but not
me of course!
The
rain stopped after about 15 mins and about half hour after that we
all started to steam gently... The six dogs that were walking on
behalf of the cats merrily threw themselves into the canal one by
one
The pictures show us at the start and
at the end with a few in between! 7 of us completed the walk in an 2
hours 40 mins (Julie Jones, Anne Thomas, Jayne and Richard Housden,
Lynn Marasco, Robert and Owain along with Scruffy the dog). Others
completed it in 3 hours (Glynis Davies, June Davies, Peter Willis,
Mike, Jason and me, along with dogs Jessie & Lucky). And bravely
bringing up the rear in 3 hours and 10 mins were Lesley Kelly, Emma
Milne & Joyce, along with Sian, Molly & Ruby the dogs.
There was food and drinks prepared for
us at the Railway museum on Station Rd in Griffithstown, for which
we were very grateful!
