Updates on cats homed.
We had Smudge 6 months ago on the 14th January 07. He is a
loving, sweet cat with bright green eyes. He is very much king
of his castle and he has adopted his own bedroom in our house.

He likes to wander down the long gardens at the back of his
house. He is very territorial keeping out all other cats and
small animals. Even on these rainy days he can still stay
outside in the day under the cover of his verandah on his little
bench with 5 cushions.
We would like to thank cats protection for helping us to have
Smudge.

Hi,

Just to let you know the 2 cats that adopted me are happy.
Buzz (previously Pepper, the black one), but now renamed as
she always buzzes for attention. And kitty (Kiki) - not very
original! Has taken possession of the hou se.
Together
they seem to have adopted a local stray! Persuading him to eat
their left-overs.
Regards, Trevor H.

hello,
thought you might like an update on two cats you rehomed with us
last year.
We adopted Rocket & Muffet (now called Jet) last year from the
adoption day in Machen. They were very nervous cats to begin
with but it only took them a few days before they settled in and
claimed our house as their own.
Our older cat (Whiskas) wasn't sure what to mak e
of them to begin with but they are all very happy now and you
can often find them all in one big heap on the sofa!!
Here are a few pics of them.

It's Katy here (you knew me as Bubbles) just
letting yo u
know I've settled in well with my new family since my
adoption in January 2007. I've a lovely garden to play in
with my new sister Poppy when it's nice but, when the
weather's cooler, as you can see we like to laze in front of
the fire-that's Poppy on the left. We get along fine but
sometimes she reminds me who's boss!!
When
I first arrived I caused my mum a few problems so I was a
bit worried if she would let me stay but I heard her telling
her friends I was a real sweetie so everthing's ok & I'm
here to stay!
Special thanks to
Helene for looking after me when I needed somewhere to stay.
Lots of licks & purrs Katy x

Kermit has now been with us for
four months and has completely taken over!
He is such a beautiful cat and
we have now got to know all his little ways. Mice and birds are brought in
at regular intervals and deposited on the floor for us with I am sure lots
of love!

Here are a few pictures of him.

Dear Gwent Cats Protection, I was reading the news article on your website
about
the kittens that were rescued after being locked in
the boot of a car, and realised that one of them has been adopted by my cousin (it's the kitten on the
far right of the picture)! My cousin and her two
girls have called her Smudge (because of the black
blob on her head!) and they absolutely adore her.
She
is a gorgeous little cat - cheeky, playful,
affectionate and most importantly healthy, after
the
trauma of her first few weeks of life.

Hi Helene
In October 2005, we went to CP to meet a very, very nervous
cat ca lled Felix. We chose him from a selection of cats on
your website. He hissed at us when we first met him, but we
adopted him anyway and renamed him Hobbes.
Hobbes confidence soon improved (although he still scares
easily), and we saw that he is a real little sweetie. He
enjoys the usual catty favourites: hunting, eating and
sleeping. He is very communicative with us, and he loves it
when we join in with his hunting games.

In February we all moved down to an isolated house in Devon
where Hobbes gets to roam the fields, hunting mice, shrews
and moles; some of
which he gives to us as presents.
He's a joy to have living with us.
Thanks to you at CP for letting us home him

Dear Loretta and all at Cats Prote ction

The two kittens are doing very well and slowly becoming cats!
Here are a few pictures of them to show you they are making our
home theirs!

Hi, Lemon is now Oscar after many other names that we tried
but he seems to come best to puss at the moment (I think he's a
bit confused with all the changes!). He gets on really well with
Chester and they hate being
separated they really make good companions.

I am really happy
with the new addition to the family, in fact he was having lots
of cuddles in bed with me this morning!
thanks for every thing

Just a little note from me, Muffin, to
say thank you for looking after me, when I didn't have a home.
As you can now see, I am very happy and have been since I
arrived at my new home around February. Once again thank you
love Muffin xxxx. |

I thought you might like to know how Kermit is getting on with us.
He has settled down in Rumney very well. The first night he was with us
he kept us awake until 4.30 in the morning! He kept coming in to see us
and jumping on the bed and brushing us with his tail. Since then he has
been very good and sleeps most of the night in his new bed in the living
room. He is eating well, and the only dispute we have with him at the
moment is that he wants to go out! We keep telling him that a week
Friday we will open the window and he will be able to go out and meet
the neighbours and other cats.
He is a lovely, lovely boy with a beautiful temperament and everyone who
has met him has admired him greatly.

We rehomed two black and white kittens from you in October of last year -
known then as Jane and Jade - known now as Amber and Socks!

We were not planning on adopting two originally - but fell in love with them
from the minute we saw them. We would now always suggest to anyone getting a
kitten or cat to get two - it really isn't much more expensive and they keep
each other company when were out. We also think it helped them settle in so quickly, they were ruling the roost within the first 5 minutes of being
here!
They are confident cats that are soooo friendly!

They are gorgeous and
everybody who meets them loves them. They are very cheeky and are regular
visitors at all of our neighbours houses who love them just as much as us!
We want to say a big thank you to Cats protection and all that you do!

When Mi-Ke
came in to our care she was a shy and nerves little cat
which spent most of her time hiding under the bed. We
were a bit worried as she was a bit on the skinny side
and suffered from an upset stomach for a few weeks but
with a lot of love and chicken she soon became a healthy
cuddly house cat.

These
days she can be found in sun traps around the house and
enjoying the comfort of various blankets and quilts. We
found Mi-ke to be a very vocal and affectionate cat and
would like to thank you all at cats protection with your
help in finding us this little adorable cat.

We hope
Mi-ke kittens are all healthy and have found new homess

Hello
I thought you
would be interested to have some news of "Lucinda" whom
you delivered to me in Tredegar on 23rd Feb.
Well although
rather feisty at first she has settled well - in charge
of the household (as always) ! totally spoiled by my
Daughter (handful of shrimps for supper!) It's as though
she's always been here.

See attached
pics - she has a penchant for lying on towels - if we
can't find her - she's usually in bathroom in towel rack
!
The other pic
shows her in pounce mode - target being me ! She also
often dives out from the gap between two armchairs and
grabs around my ankle as I pass by!
After
deliberation, she's been renamed "Bibsy" - she didn't
like having a human name, and, on the internet, we found
a cat named Bibsy in America, so that makes it a proper
cat's name!
Many thanks
to Cats Protection for a delightful companion, keep up
the good work.

Dear
all at cats protection,
There are no words
to describe the utter joy that our two new fur babies Millie
(champers) and Maisie are bringing to
us, I could not believe how quickly they have
settled, they came home had a good sniff around gave
us the seal approval before lying on their backs one
in each arm and falling asleep, they are utterly adorable and judging by the
amount they purr and play they are very very happy.
We never
felt that anybody could replace our beloved 14 month
old Lily when she was hit earlier this year, but
they are helping to mend our broken hearts.

They have just
been given a new scratching post and they adore it.
Millie is definately a mummies girl, she loves
attention from everyone but always needs to come
back to her mum, (which I love) I hope you like the
pics, they are 11 weeks now! Will keep you all
posted.
Special thanks to
Rita.

Hello, my name is Sarah Price. I adopted
Mickey almost 2 years ago and he has settled
in fine. He has put on weight and he is as
playful as ever. Although his claws do hurt
when he is making his bed on your lap! He
has become very protective of his territory
and often brings us LITTLE PRESEN TS!
(including frogs) He is developing
brilliantly, although he wont go near
children for some reason. But besides that
he is the most perfect companion I could
ever ask for.
THANK YOU

We adopted Phoebe and Monica on 19 February.
Monica hid herself away for a few days but
Phoebe wanted fuss from day one! they've
both settled in great now and have been
exploring the garden, when I can keep an eye
on them. Monica is just watching me type now
so I won't be able to do this for much
longer before she wants to join in!
It's a
joy having ten around, they're such characters.

- that was a note from Monica, she says thanks Cats
Protection for looking after us when we needed help,
we're OK now. |

Just wanted to say thank you for letting us have our 2 beautiful kittens Mischief and
Cracker (formally Henson and Leila). Our
beloved cat was hit by a car and
unfortunately killed last year and we never
thought we'd find another mog as special as
him, let alone 2! We adopted them just after
christmas and they quickly settled in to a
routine of eating, sleeping and running
around creating havoc! Mischief may be tiny
but she's definitely the boss, and has the
loudest purr I've ever heard. Cracker is
very protective of his little sister and has
a lot of patience with her demands for
attention!
They love their cuddles (especially
Mischief) and are very protective of
each other. We couldn't imagine life
without them and are very grateful
that you trusted us enough to take
them home.
Thanks to all at cats protection,
especially Rita who spoilt them as
much as we do! |

Just to let you all know that
Lesley, renamed poppy, who we adopted new years day has settled in fine. She's very happy,
especially with our 10 year old cat, Molly, after two days they were friends.
The children love her and
I must say I love her to bits, she is
such a funny little thing.
She
is sat on the keyboard as I'm trying to type this to you,
thanks again.
Her cat flu seems to have stayed at bay
& she has had her first injection.
thanks again for her
best wishes

Hi, I was adopted at Usk last spring and
have settled in quite well. The only pro blem I have
is that these genetically improved mice are rather hard
on the few teeth I have left.
Well, must
get my staff organised now
Happy New
year to you all

I'm just sending a note about our cat Willy (aka Squeek) that
we adopted from yourselves in February of last year.
We had previously lost our cat and had adopted another but
wanted a companion for her, previous attempts at this had not been at all
successful!!
We decided that as she was quite a small cat herself then a
kitten would be our only hope.
We rang CP who said that they had just had a homing show but
might have a kitten...but he only had 1 eye due to having cat flu at birth.
we said yes and went off to meet him
On hearing that he had 1 eye my husband wanted to name him
after a film pirate! and on meeting him it was just right. We took him
home and were very wary on how our cat would react, but within a week they
were eating and playing together.
When we adopted him we were told that he was a character and
this is still true, he eats cabbage, loves catnip, falls in love with random
items he sees out of the window and purrs like a train.

As you can tell we love him to bits and could not imagine
life without him.
Many thanks to all at CP but most of all to June who helped
to make him the cat that he is!
many thanks
from

Hiya,
I'd just thought I'd give u an email to let you know how Simba (Andy)
is getting on. He has really come far to the point where he
follows me from room to room and runs up to me when I come in from
college. I think I confused him with his name at bit though as
he now looks when I call him baby boy as well as Simba - whoops!
He's definitely a cuddler and is purring his head off lying on my lap
when I type this.
He's still a little nervous around my sisters and my
mum but I think that's because they're not at home as much as me (I
have most afternoons off from college). He lets them smooth him
and pick him up but not without a good sniff first! He's taken quite a
shine to my dad too and likes him to fuss him.

Our other cat Sparkle wasn't too impressed at first but she okay with
him now, she does hiss at him sometimes though when he puts his
face too close to hers. Simbas really enjoying playing wi th my sisters
kittens too.
Thank-you for Simba we all love him to bits!

Hi Glynis, Sharon and
all at Gwent South CP,
I adopted a little tortie and white cat called Ella from you a few weeks ago and I
thought you might like an update. We had to rename her as we
already had an 'Ella'. We thought she looked quite oriental with
her slim face and big ears and cats with tortie and white
colouring are considered lucky in Japan so we decided on a
Japanese name- Keiko. It means 'adorable girl' which she
certainly is!
We were a little
worried about her at first as she spent her first week with us
hiding under the bath! She would sneak out at night to eat and
use her litter tray. But with a bit of patience she eventually
came to trust us and now she is quite a bold cat.
She is getting on
well with our other two cats Ella and Sweep and has also met our
resident bunny rabbit! She loves to sleep on the bed and also
loves to play in the garden with Sweep. We were surprised at
this as we know she has not had access to a garden before.
She is such a sweet girl and follows me everywhere like a little
lamb. We've had her chipped and vaccinated (she was a very brave girl at
the vets) and I can let her out in the garden safe in the knowledge she
will always come when I call her. Thank you for all your hard work with
Keiko and good luck for the future,Debra

Dear Helene
Holly (Ollie that was!) has settled into her new
home. She gets on very well with our cat Sparky. They spend a lot of their
days together in the garden under the watchful eye of their owner. The word
'owner' is a misnomer where cats are concerned! As you know dogs have masters,
cats have slaves!

Dear Cats Protection
We adopted an oddly coloured tortoiseshell called Lulu back in
February and just want to let you know that she has settled in great. Raj was
more of a dog person and was a little dubious at first but he loves her just as
much as I do and nowadays I often have to fight for his attention as he gives it
all to her! Lulu is really special and there isn't a day where she doesn't do
something in her own peculiar way that makes us smile. We couldn't imagine our
home without her and she's even convinced Raj to get her a little brother to
keep her company!

Dear cats protection
I am the new owner of two beautiful cats named Smokey and Coco,
we only picked them up on Sunday (1 week ago) but already they have
settled down and you would think they had lived here for years, I am
very very pleased that I decided to take on two cats as they keep
each other company, my partner absolutely loves them even though he
keeps it to him self but I catch him giving them cuddles, All the
staff at your centre deserve a lot of respect because having two
cats can be a handful let alone 7/8 at a time. Once again I would
like to thank you all and keep up the good work
Cheers

We (Amy and Dan) adopted a gorgeous tabby boy
about three and a half months old on 22nd February. At first he was
extremely nervous, which we were told to expect, and would hiss and
spit at us if we tried to approach him. Because of this nervous and
shakey nature, we decided to call him Ozzie as in Osbourne!!!! Now,
just over a month later he is the most loving and appreciative cat
we have known! He loves nothing more than to have his tummy rubbed
and to sit on our laps whilst watching telly.
Ozzie has also settled in well with Misky, our
all black female cat and always tries to snuggle into her to sleep.
We usually find that they are snuggled up somewhere together or they
are playing chase around the house! They take it in turns to be
chased and sometimes make a lot of noise running up and down the
stairs, and even though they have separate bowls of the same food
they insist on eating out of the same bowl together at the same
time!!!
We are so happy with Ozzie and we could not have
asked for a better addition to the family. Although, it took some
time and patience it has been so rewarding to make what was a very
nervous and untrustworthy cat become a very content and comfortable
Ozzie!!!! We just want to say a big thank you to Sharon for helping
us to understand Ozzie and to everyone at Cat Protection that helped
us to find the right cat for ourselves and Misky. Ozzie is perfect
and we wouldn't change him for the world.

I am the new Mum of a beautiful jet black cat who was formerly known
as Petal.
My husband and I already have two cats who we
took in during November 2001, and then we rescued a very ill treated
german shepherd puppy who could not stand and was unable to even eat
at that time. So we already have an animal shelter of our own!
However, I managed to steer my husband into Llanyrafon Social Club,
mid July 2004, on the understanding that we would go along to support
the Cats Protection and give a donation .... and then we saw Petal!!
She was such an adorable little cat that we both instantly decided to
give a donation ..... and also give Petal a new home as well!!
Petal now has a new name and is known as Ddu - pronounced DEE. Ddu is the Welsh word for Black, and as she
literally is completely black - to the point of when her eyes are
closed you can't see her!! She was unsettled for the first few days
in her new home, and decided to live on our ironing board, refusing to
get down with all her meals being served on our ironing board!! Now,
things are quite different - she is first at the meal sitting with our
other cats, Joe and Sadie waiting for their turn!! Ddu is best
friends with Macy, our german shepherd, and curls up in the dog bed
with Ddu having the majority of the space! It is so funny to see a
german shepherd wrapped around this black ball of fur!!
We would like to sincerely thank Lynne for all her
help, as she was Ddu's foster Mum for 13 weeks before we had her, and
we know how much Lynne loved Petal. We would also like to commend
everyone who works so hard rescuing these poor cats from all sorts of
troubles, and making sure they are safely rehomed to new loving
owners.

We recently adopted Meg in October when she was 11 months old. Within an hour
of bringing her home she was curled up asleep on the chair looking as if she
had been here all the time! She has settled in extremely well. She is very
friendly and loves being fussed and stroked whilst in her bed but is a bit
panicky if you pick her up and does not settle very well on your lap, although
today she DID sleep on my lap on her special fleece which she likes to sleep
on for the first time. She eats anything and eats a lot! She likes to go for
quite a wander outside but also likes to be indoors. Meg likes to have a bit
of an adventure outside, the first day we let her out after being here 4-5
weeks or so she managed to climb up to the top of some 20ft conifers to chase
the birds, she then had no idea how to get down! She eventually jumped onto
next doors shed and garage. Meg seems to like a bit of a routine and often
takes herself upstairs to bed at exactly 10.30pm!! Meg has been really lovely
and we've loved having her around these last few months, we often can't
believe that it is only 3 months we have had her, it seems she has settled so
well, it seems she has been here a lot longer than that.

Dear All at Cats Protection League
We adopted Mitters and Sage around 18
months ago, their new names are Mister Jinx and Harvey - to say that they
have settled in well is an understatement - having more control of what
happens in the house than us who pay the bills and buy the food (alot of
it)!!! Mister Jinx will follow us everywhere and "grab" your hand to
stroke him - you've got to have a good reason not to give him ALL your
attention. Harvey is more subtle but likes a cuddle just as much! They
enjoy listening to music and watching GMTV in the morning. Can't imagine
the house without them - they are an absolute pleasure and after a
stressful day at work, brighten the day! Thank you!!!

Hi
Joanne here ( we adopted Ollie and Robyn), just a short note to let you know we
are very happy with them and they have settled in very well. The one with
the black nose LOVEs cuddling up watching telly and being stroked, whereas the
other spends most of her time eating, running around like a loony and shadowing
me wherever I go in the house. They have been eating dry food which is left out
as well as tucking into their meat pouches, and there seems to be no sign of
sickness or anything from the dry food so hopefully they will be able to change
over eventually or go half and half.
Well thanks for the help, we will definitely recommend homing from you to
friends as we have been very pleased with the support.
Thank you Joanne, Matt, Robyn and Ollie

We
recently on the 2nd of October adopted Rag and Tag, whose new names are Turpin
and Dick. (don't ask)
Just wanted to give you an up date on their progress, they have now moved from
behind cupboard and are very much lap cats, they have settled in so well. they
have taken over the house and love to play with any new toys, are constantly
under feet and if you go into kitchen they are there (FOOD). our older cat
Blobby has taken to them well, all three eat out of same bowl and will curl up
on floor, window sill or furniture together. they battle to see who can get on a
lap first as soon as you sit down.
We are pleased that they have settled with us and we hope that they will be
around as long as our cat who has not long died (15 years).
Thank you for the care you gave them.
Mrs Stephanie Denning.

I recently adopted
a cat named Patch from your Cat Adoption Day in Llanyrafon Social Club,
Cwmbran. I have imaginatively renamed
her Puss and she is doing brilliantly in her new home.
She has just woken up as I type. She settled in to her new home very
well,
and
talks to you when you walk into the room! Puss is a very content cat
and her purr is extremely loud, you can hear her before you see her!
She is very affectionate and loves burrowing under clothes and duvets,
perhaps it makes her feel safe.
