Gwent Branch of

Cats Protection

Welcome to the Gwent Branch of            Cats Protection

The Gwent branch of Cats Protection rescues and rehomes unwanted and abandoned cats in the 'old' Gwent area. We also promote responsible ownership and try to help with the control of feral colonies through neutering and putting the cats back.

Check out Harry!

We would like to direct your attention to a great web site called www.harryishome.co.uk - it is created by Sue Smith and Harry (the cat), who are both great supporters of Cat Rescues, as Harry had to use their services himself in the past. At this site you can purchase Harry products and a donation from your purchase will be given to a Cat Welfare Group of your choice - so you can spend and donate at the same time!

New Branch Phone Number

We have changed our branch phone number to 0845 371 2747 - this is charged at local rates, so why not give us a call!

Situations Vacant

We are on the look out for people who are willing to help with the following:

  • We are investigating renting a stall at a local indoor market and are looking for people who would be willing to do a regular weekly shift – we need to have enough people before we can consider taking this on, we are looking at the In Shops in Cwmbran and it would be short term, but would like to know we have enough volunteers to cover the shifts before committing ourselves. Please email me or call on 01633 850476 if you could help out.

  •  Fosterers wanted, both indoor fostering and we also have a single outdoor pen available.

  •  Leaflet deliveries, we are looking for people who would be willing to deliver leaflets around areas where we are holding events (such as Bric-a-brac sales or book & collectable sales)

  • Recruitment Officer, someone willing to visit potential new volunteers and ensure that they are given relevant tasks to do (ie asked along to events, given home visits etc)

  •           Home visitors, we can never have enough of these! Although homing is still pretty slow we are looking for people who would be willing to do home visits, possibly just one or two a month and also attend the monthly Cat Adoption Days that we hold.

  •  Fund Raisers – people who can come up with new ideas and set about organising them! Also attending any events we hold or thinking up new venues for the sales that we hold.

  •  Car booters – people who would be willing to attend car boot sales, we have the goods for you to take along but need people who have the time (& enjoy) attending these events.

  •   Venues for collecting boxes, if anyone knows of a venue then give us a call or drop us an email and we can sort out the box for you, if you can keep an eye on the box & emptying it when necessary.
